Screen Lock
Configure your screen lock on Renati OS. Each time you power it on or wake the screen, you'll need to unlock it. On some devices, optional fingerprint authentication is also available for added convenience.
Device Password
To change your device password on a Renati OS, you can do the following:
- Open your Settings application.
- Tap Security & Privacy → Device Unlock
- Tab Screen Lock. You'll need to enter your password before you can pick a different lock.
- Tap Password. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Screen Lock Timeout
Changing your lock screen timeout:
- Pull down from the top bar to open your phone’s settings
- Tap Display
- Tap Advanced
- Tap Screen timeout
- Choose your desired timeout
Fingerprint Authentication
Renati requires a mandatory strong password with a minimum length of 14 characters. To reduce password fatigue, you can enable fingerprint authentication. Fingerprint authentication is set to timeout by default every 12 hours and will require a password for security. You can change the default by following our guide on setting the fingerprint timeout.
But there are a few things to keep in mind:
- A fingerprint can be less secure than a strong password.
- A copy of your fingerprint could be used to unlock your device. You leave fingerprints on many things you touch, including your device.
- You can add multiple fingerprints.
Your fingerprint data is securely stored on your device and never transmitted or shared externally.
